Drive Productions is bringing 4d projection mapping to Moscow for the first time at the annual Circle of Light Festival. Drive pioneered projection mapping in St Petersburg for clients Yota in 2010 and the team is thrilled to be heading back to Russia for another spectacular event.
The Circle of Light launched in 2011 with over 350 light installations around Moscow. This year the festival runs from 28 September to 2 October. The key theme – ‘Energy of Life’ – refers to the changes that are taking place in Metropolitan Moscow; the entire city will be transformed by light to capture this energy.
Drive was commissioned to create content based on one of the chief themes of the festival – ‘The Breath of Life’. Drive employed a groundbreaking projection mapping technique, often dubbed ‘painting with light’, to bring the fairy-tale journey to life. A particular highlight of this new projection is the voyage the audience are taken on by Madame Gaia, the Earth Goddess.
The narrative is accompanied by a bespoke soundtrack created by Paul Hartnoll of Orbital, encapsulating the myriad of emotions expressed by Madame Gaia through symphonic opera, beats and synthesiser.
The Director, Luke Losey commented: “The metaphor of the earth mother is a simple tale; the breath of life that powers the machine we call home is under threat. The artistic nature of this film allowed us to play and work collaboratively, producing a film that is a colourful and beautiful celebration of all natural life.”
Drive CEO Ben Fender added “We’ve hugely enjoyed creating content for the festival and welcomed the opportunity to create a show with such a strong focus on art and beauty. Working with Luke, Paul and our inspirational CGI team to create this show has been an artistically rewarding experience.”
We are holding a drinks reception TONIGHT in Moscow for any brands and agencies interested in finding out more about how Drive could transform their brand experiences.
