Creative Agency Drive Productions were celebrating along with the rest of the country when projection mapping became centre stage at the Diamond Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace part of the celebrations in London.
This goes to show how projection mapping continues to create impact at live experiences, all credit to Sam Pattinson pulling this one off. Long live the Queen!
As pioneers in 4d projection mapping technology Drive understand the challenges thrown up by a short turnaround. Our award-winning work with Ralph Lauren, dubbed the ‘first 4d experience’ has inspired some of the most creative and innovative projections around the globe. Bombay Sapphire, and David Guetta on the Graham Norton Show are further examples that British-based talent is flourishing and boutique agencies are leading the way.
Projection mapping was recently used to launch the Nokia Lumia 800 handset, with world-renowned producer and musician Deadmau5 on London’s Millbank Tower. Nokia’s ‘Amazing Every Day’ campaign for the Lumia smartphone 800 was a huge success. Drawing 20,000 people to the event as well as achieving stellar viewings on all social media platforms. On the night of the event pages 145,000 people logged in to watch it live from Nokia’s Facebook page. The official YouTube film has had almost 4 million hits, with over 1 million occurring within 4 days of the event.
“Having initially played with this medium three years ago on small desktop projectors, mapping paper cubes on a table top, projections are now being seen on huge buildings and stage sets around the world. As long as the content and the creative behind it is better and more beautiful and more unusual, then projection mapping will be creating wild and new experiences at live events long into the future.”
Ben Fender, CEO Drive Productions
Soon it won’t just be on buildings or stage sets that ‘4d’ can be experienced, in April this year ‘4DTV’ was launched by Drive and partners Log Media, transforming traditional TV set design and the viewer experience by combining CGI content and 3D animation.
The opportunities behind this incredible technology are endless, the combination of using 4-dimensional projection, ground-breaking 3D content and state of the art media server technology has the potential to change the future of experiential advertising and marketing.
