The third Sound & Vision event produced by Drive

Cancer Research UK’s annual Sound & Vision takes place at the world famous Abbey Road Studios. Sound & Vision is an evening of music culture centring on a fundraising auction of music photography and memorabilia. This years event raised £165,000 – £30,000 more than in 2007, making it an outstanding success.

Artworks on sale included the classic Morrison Hotel album cover for The Doors and The Sergent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band cover for the Beatles, all signed and dedicated by the original photographers.

As in previous years Drive created two main performance and display areas in Studios 1 and 2 of Abbey Road. Studio 1 – the worlds largest recording studio – is where most of the action took place, including live performances from 10CC and The Brand New Heavies.

Both bands gave it their all and performed superbly. To see 10CC live is a rarity indeed – they did not disappoint, and the Brand New Heavies raised the roof with their soulful funk energy.

Studio 2 is where the Beatles recorded their Abbey Road album, and in this sanctified place VIP’s previewed a selection of memorabilia and enjoyed an exclusive acoustic performance from Beverley Knight.

The host, ‘Pub Landlord’ Al Murray, was on good form.

‘Whispering’ Bob Harris gave a moving speech describing his own battle with cancer.

Another British broadcasting legend in attendance was Dave Lee Travis.
