Circle of Light international festival, Moscow

Drive has created the world’s largest projection at the opening show of the fifth annual Circle of Light international festival in Moscow, bagging a Guinness World Record in the process.

The installation, created for LBL Communications who were supporting the Department of Mass Media and Advertising of the City of Moscow, was entitled ‘Light Discoveries’ and used CGI and live action green screen to bring to life the inventors of electricity, cinema, radio, television, fibre optic cable and the internet.

The 19,099 square metre show was projected on to a surface of The Ministry of Defence in Moscow, officially taking the Guinness World Record for largest projection.

The installation consisted of 142 digital projectors across 6 towers, providing 5 levels of projection across the 370-metre façade – over 6 times the width and twice and height of Harrods.

“Drive always aim to deliver impactful world firsts for our clients and we’re thrilled to achieve another world record with this amazing and challenging project,” commented CEO Ben Fender.

Creative Director Imogen Hammond, who directed the visual content for the show, in addition to judging The Art Vision Classic Competition at the festival, commented “The Moscow Circle of Light was the perfect context for the world’s largest projection – it seems fitting that we celebrated the greatest scientists by achieving a world first, especially as we utilised these very inventions to create this experience.”
