The Motorshow – ExCel 20 – 30 July 2006

Drive Productions and show producers Lavish co-created an incredible live spectacle at the 2006 Motorshow, burning some serious rubber to deliver a high octane performance to an exhilerated crowd.

The theme was a novel reworking of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, but this was no thespian socks-in-tights affair – our show had bigger balls than Macbeth….

With a rock’n'roll band, some very fast cars, a pair of lunatic motocross riders, heavy plant machinery, trapese artists, dancers and a matador – the Dockside Story was a full-on spectacle and not for the feint hearted.

The show was sponsored by Vauxhall, showcasing their VXR car collection. JCB also provided product placement with some huge new plant machinery.

Ole!

Does my bum look big in this?

Drive pulled together all of the technical and logistical aspects of the show, including the site design, lighting and AV. The costumes, choreography and performers were co-ordinated by Lavish.
Despite the blazing hot weather the crew stayed totally cool, and pulled off four shows a day for fourteen days straight, watched by more than 120,000 spectators in total. By the end of it we were all fitter, leaner and meaner – with only a few minor injuries between us!

Brighton Hilton Metropole 18th – 19th June 2006

For the second time KBW and Drive were called upon by Linde Material Handling to launch the latest in their range of forklift trucks.

The name of the game this time was to hit the delegates with an entertaining and high impact spectacle showcasing the main features of the Linde 386, and culminating in the reveal of the truck itself. The result – a Doctor Who themed theatrical floor show with rollerskating dalek girls, the tardis and of course, Dr & The Medics live and in the flesh!

The show itself, including the costumes and choreography was conceived and produced by Lavish.

The show opened with the arrival of the Tardis on set followed by a drama performance iterspersed with explosive dance routines and some sharp lighting effects. The rocking mini-musical culminated in the specially designed and built Dalek ‘Pod’ – cracking open to reveal the all new ultimate Dalek – the Linde 386!

Combined with high resolution projected graphics and some punchy sound effects and music, the audience were left somewhat dazzled – especially at ten in the morning after they’d been lording it in the hotel bar the night before!

We transformed other areas of the venue in to a reception area, lecture rooms, product display and competitors display areas, and an indoor test driving circuit.
